Just about everyday we try to get some sort of exercise. Whether it's going for a walk, lifting, yoga, swimming, whatever. But.... we don't typically work out right before appointments. Yesterday though was a different story.
We were grabbing a bite to eat at Angelic Brewery Downtown (if you like bloody mary's you have to visit Angelic sometime if you already haven't), we had just dropped our cameras off for routine service across the street and had just enough time to eat dinner before our first appointment of the evening.
We ate quickly, and started walking back to our car...except our car wasn't there. We had fed the meter, but neglected to read the sign about it being a tow away zone after 3. With only 50 minutes before our first appointment at our gallery on the west side, and all of our contacts in our missing car we had to act quick because we had no way to contact anyone to tell them we could be running late.
Our waiter got us the number for the Madison Police department, which informed us that our car was on S. Park St at a tow shop, but we'd first have to come to the Station to pay the ticket. We considered calling a cab and having one of us go to where the car was so that we could pick it up as soon as possible, but for some reason went with plan B. So we ran the 8 or 9 blocks, April in heels (which I guess wasn't fun). When we got there they told us our car was in fact on Wisconsin St. So we then had to turn around and run another 6 blocks the other direction where we found our car along with a healthy ticket on the side of the street. Good thing one of us didn't take a cab to S. Park.
Somewhat exhausted, we still had 20 minutes to get to the west side and amazingly made our appointment on time, and it almost seemed like that whole fiasco never happened once our appointment began. Lessoned learned, don't let your stomach steer your eyes away from street signs I guess.
Hopefully that will never happen again, but as an afterthought you would think that they would place a contact number on the parking signs so you knew exactly who to call if you happened to get towed.
